Dr. Lindsey Doe is an American sexologist and video blogger. She will be doing a live rendition of her YouTube show, Sexplanations Live! and taking questions from the audience. If you would like to submit a question ahead of time, click here.

 

Lindsey received her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology at The University of Montana. She received her Masters of Science (MS) in Health and Human Performance with a 4.0 GPA at The University of Montana. She received her Doctor of Human Sexuality (DHS) in Sexology at The Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality.

 

As a clinical sexologist, Lindsey founded and works at Birds & Bees, LLC (founded in 2007) which focuses on sexual health issues and goals within the community. She also serves as an Adjunct Faculty for The University of Montana.

 

She now hosts the popular YouTube channel Sexplanations. She has appeared as a guest speaker many time on Scishow with Hank Green. Go here to view Dr. Doe's YouTube channel.

Brian Babylon is a Chicago-born comic and radio host. The self-proclaimed “Prince of Bronzeville”, is a fixture in Chicago's rich comedy community. He hosted and produced The Morning AMP radio show on Vocalo 91.1 FM, a sister station of WBEZ / Chicago Public Radio. He’s also made a name for himself outside of Chicago, moving to Los Angeles and joining the production team for the Comedy Central show Why? with Hannibal Buress. He is also one of the fan favorites of the NPR weekly news quiz show Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, contributes to BBC Radio, and can be seen in season 3 of Inside Amy Schumer on Comedy Central. Greta Christina has been writing professionally since 1989, on topics including atheism, sexuality and sex-positivity, LGBT issues, politics, culture, and whatever crosses her mind. At Freethought Festival, her talk will be "Why Are Atheists So Angry?"

 

She is one of the most widely- read and well- respected bloggers in the atheist blogosphere, and was recently ranked by an independent analyst as one of the Top Ten most popular atheist bloggers. She is a regular atheist correspondent for AlterNet, the online political magazine with over 1,200,000 hits a week. More about Greta can be found here.

 

Karen Garst is the creator of the website The Faithless Feminist, which she started after she became an atheist. Karen will be giving a talk titled "The Snake: From Goddess to Satan to Doctor". The goal of the Faithless Feminist is to provide a platform for women to talk about why they have left religion behind. The article topics on the site range from literary analysis to activism. Garst is also the author of the book Women Beyond Belief: Discovering Life Without Religion, which explores the negative impact religion has had on women both historically and in modern times. The book is a compilation of stories from 22 difference women about how they left religion and how they managed their lives from a secular standpoint.

Rebecca Hensler is the founder of Grief Beyond Belief, a support group for grieving people who do not believe in God or an afterlife, which she founded in 2011. She was encouraged to found it by atheist activist Greta Christina. Hensler's own son Jude died in 2009 at three months of age. She also works as a school counselor at a public middle school in San Francisco, and lives in the Bay Area with her wife. For more Grief Beyond Belief, check out the Facebook page.

Bronston Jones has rocked comedy clubs and opened for rock bands. At Freethought Festival he will be doing a comedy routine titled "God Bless 'Merica... it'll take a miracle to fix it." After a 5-year hiatus directing commercials, Bronston’s back at the mic doing what he loves most—Saying Something without Selling Anything. From coast to coast, he revels in revealing his failings and through his conversational, story-telling style reveals failings we all share while talking about the demented Reality Show called REALITY. Miri runs the blog, Brute Reason, which covers social justice, psychology, mental health, sexuality, and other topics. She will be speaking on "Why Kindergartners Need Sex Ed" at Freethought Festival. Most of her writing touches on issues like consent and autonomy, direct communication, community building, and rational thinking. Although her writing often persuades people, Miri is more interested in giving people tools to live more happily, think more clearly, and act more ethically. Besides her blog, which has been active for almost six years, Miri's writing has appeared in the Daily Dot, xoJane, Everyday Feminism, Friendly Atheist, and Salon.

Kater Murch is an assistant professor at the University of Washington in St. Louis. He will be giving a talk titled "The arrow of time in quantum mechanics". Murch’s research focuses on the interface of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical (AMO) and condensed matter physics. Using nano-fabrication techniques to construct superconducting quantum circuits that allows his group to probe fundamental questions in quantum mechanics. Marie Schaub is a plaintiff in FFRF's case over a Ten Commandments monument in Pennsylvania's New Kensington-Arnold School District and is the winner of FFRF's Atheist in Foxhole Courage Award. She will be giving a talk titled "A Monumental Struggle". In August, FFRF won an appeal in the case, overturning the initial judge's ruling that she (and her daughter) did not have legal standing. She is the only publicly named plaintiff in the case and has been vilified because of it. Schaub now gives talks on her experience in this case and fighting for the separating of church and state in her daughter's school district.

J.T. Snipes, Campus Assessment Manager of the Interfaith Youth Core, develops interfaith assessment services and resources and coordinates IFYC's dissemination of research data and findings. Snipes will be giving a talk titled "Ain't I Black Too?: Counterstories of Black Atheists in College". J.T. has a B.A. in Biology and a MSEd in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Baylor University. He is currently completing his Ph.D in Higher Education at Indiana University. In his free time, J.T. loves to travel to new locations with friends making new memories. He believes strongly in the words of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. that "An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere" and interfaith cooperation is a key strategy to help eradicate social injustices.

Matthew Wilbourn donated $100 to the Murrow Indian Children's Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma on behalf of the Muskogee Atheist Community. The Children's Home refused his donation on principle. In retaliation, Matthew started a GoFundMe for the Children's Home, which raised over $11,500, which was still rejected on principle. Matthew will be telling his account of the story during his talk, "Reject My Donation? GoFund Yourself!"
